-Mr D. A. Aiken, assistant general manager qf the U.S.S. Company, who, with his wife, has been spending a month’s holiday in Wanganui, returned to Wellington yesterday. Mr A. W. Batiste, of the tonring management staff of Messrs J. and N. Tait, reached Wanganui last night to negotiate final details in respect of the Besses o’ th’ Barn -Band’s forthcoming performances. Mr George Portus, advance manager of Mr J. C. Williamson’s “Peter Pan”: Company, is in town arranging for one performance of Barrie’s beautiful fantasy which is fixed for Monday week. ’ It is reported that Miss Crombie. of the r eizainfif High School, who was recently appointed by the Wanganui Education Board to Terrace End School, to take the place of Miss O’Donnell, who in turn replaced Miss Hastings (retiring with matrimonial intentions), has received an appointment at Tauranga., Miss Dora Peiper has been appointed matron of the Auckand Hospital. Miss Peiper was formerly in charge of St. Helen s Hospital, in Auckland, and was recently transferred to a similar post in Christchurch. •
