PERSONAL.
Mr H. R. Woon, of the New Zealand Times, Wellington, is at present on a. won to Wanganui, in connection with tli il journal's great voting competition. Mr Woon had intended being a compct'tor himself, but owing to some of t'>p other contestants questioning his eligibility he withdraw his nomination. He will devote several weeks to promoting the candidature of other contestants. Mr Woon will at tend a preliminary meeting to be held tu\. evening of those interested in W. Webb's candidature for the round-the-world tour.
The following members of the Wanganui Licensed Victuallers' Association left for Wellington to-day, to attend a conference of the "Trade" to be held there commencing tomorrow: — Messrs W. R. Tuck, C. J .McCarthy, T. Nixon, J. R. For.ter, A. H. Rogeis, and Bellve.
Constable- Connor arrived from Palmerston North on Saturday to succeed Mounted Constable' Cullen, who has been promot'H to the position of acting-detective at Auckland.
Rev. J. McKenzie, the new rasteir of Sf Paul's Presbyterian Church, will commence his duties on Sunday next
