AVIATION.

AEROPLANES IN WANGANUI.

Mr P. C. Price, of Wanganui while ou his recent Irip to the Old Country, took a keen interest in aviation, and wa6 one til the spectators at Rheimfe. Before retm ting to New Zealand, he ordered thre3 "■"odel aeroplanes, and these arrived yesterday. They comprise a Wright biplaue, i Bleriot monoplane, and a Latham mououlane. The models are all splendidly made md* finished, and are complete in every letail, except that of course they are not fitted with engines, the motive power being supplied by twisted rubber bands. Mt Price intends to crive-them a trial shortly, [n the meantime they will be on view in us shop window, where no doubt they will be an object of interest. Questioned by a "Herald" representative, Mr Price stated that there was no loubt of the way in which aviation was ■atching on, both in England and on the Continent. As far as those in the first dight of aviation were concerned, Cody was the only Englishman who had done ■nuch. But hundreds of ' Englishmen had ormed model aeroplane clubs, both for experiment and amusement, and model leroplanes threatened to become as comnon as model yachts. Many improvements were likely to follow on this account, as *>me of the experimenters were very keen, liese model machines would fly from 100 to 150 yards. On the Continent, Mr Price remarked, nore progress had been made in aviation Lhan in England, and there were some vho were buying full sized aeroplanes for pleasure purposes. The day had not arrived, of course, for iue aeroplane to supersede tho motor car. but there were inlications that many who had the requisite lerve and keenness would take to aeroilaning just as they now took to motor--ner. The factories were manufacturing aeroplanes in all styles in numbers, and rices had been greatly reduced, this bt ng made possible, in spite of the increasing demand, by the much larger output.
