KAI IWI NOTES.

(Contributed.) KAI IWI, November 27. It is not often that the folk of Kai Iwi undertake to have a concert, but when they do move in anything of the kind it can always be relied on that success is 'sure to follow. Such was the opinion of all present at the concert held last evening in the schoolroom in aid of the Sunday school fund. Mr W. A. Collins, as clianlmui, submitted a lengthy and interesting programme, and it was very evident from the rounds of applause which greeted ejeh contributor that every item was highly appreciated — encores being the ieature of the evening. Tl\e concert commenced with a pianofoite selection by Mrs Mullins, while amongst the others who so kindly contributed items towards such a successful owning were the Rev. Humphicya, Messrs McKenzie, A. C. Stansell, W. A. Collins, A. Masters (songs), Mrs Stansell, Misses L. Collins, A. Hodges, F. MansorA'(songs), Mr A. Manson (violin), Mrs Mullins (pion selections), Mus Mullins and Miss M. Bnyley, j and the Misses Cymes (pianoforte duets), while Mr Burgess rendered several recitations. During the interval a sumptuous supper was handed round. This was provided by the ladies of the district, and they deserve praase and many thanks for the dainties provided. Before dispersing, the chairman thanked Mrs Dobson, who so generously lent the piano, also all others who so willingly helped to bring the concert to such a successful issue. ,The promoters wish to express gratitude t(f Mr Collins (School Commissioner), who C 6 kindly placed the schoolhouse at their disposal. A most successful concert was brought to a close by the rendering of "God Save the King," and it was freely expressed by all present that they hfd really enjoyed themselves, and are quite looking forward to such another evening's entertainment. Yet another day's enjoyment is well in hand for young and old alike. This time it will take place as a picnic and Christmas treat for the children of the Kai Iwi district. The committee have arrangements well in hand and report very succespssful progress. All those who have been approached in the matter have responded most liberally, some financially, others have offered their services on the day to assist, while others have generously contributed cakes, lollies, and aerated waters. The committee intend leaving no stone unturned to make the day's outing one of most enjoyable yet held, and with this object in view have. a splendid sports programme ararnged for the children. There will be lollie scrambles and fun for all, so come one, come all, a. hearty invitation is extended, to all. Success is our motto, therefore nothing succeeds like success.
