AUSTRALIAN NAVAL DEFENCE.
Interest on Loans. LONDON, August 2.7. Britain will contribute a 1 quarter of a million annually towards the Commonwealth fleet. It is expected that the Commonwealth will raise a naval loan, requiring half a million annually for interest and sinking fund. If New Zealand floats a loan she will require to ra:se .£150,000 annually for interest and sinking fund, besides ,£IOO,OOO annually for the naval subsidy, as heretofore.
