NATIONAL DEFENCE LEAGUE.

Xlie Ambulance Brigade of tne above league held its first meeting last night when the rules as- drawn up by the committee appointed were adopted. It was decided that parades be held fortnightly, the first parade to be held on Thursday, July 29th, at 7.30 in the Drill Hall, when instructions will be given in stretcher •drill, to be followed by bandaging practice. A sub-committee was also formed to draw up a syllabus of work for the year.

Permission to use the N.C.O.'s club room and the battalion field stretcher is to be

applied for. It is proposed to have a class so f£r in- ' structed in first aid work as to give a display on or about the 9th November jnext, by which time all members will "have (gone through the necessary examination for the St. John Ambulance Association certificate of merit *

Already so many have joined the' brigade that there are only* six vacancies to complete the corps, and in view of the fact that the full course of lectures will commence within the next fortnight early application is necessary in order to take advantage of this part of the Brigade's work.
