THfe Times states that the Government 'recognises that if the discussion continues on the present lines the- debates will continue till Christmas, thereby greatly delaying consideration of next sessions legislation.'

The Hon Samuel, speaking at the Natioual Liberal Club, said that in the Government^' .yjew it was as unconstitutional of the' House of Lords to interfere in the details of the Finance Bill as for the Sovereign to veto legislation.
