TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, — With regard to your correspondent "Touchline," and his reference in last night's paper to my club's intention to inclndo a member in our next Saturday's match who is at present playing football, I desire to mention that this member will in all probability be representing the United Hockey Club in several games in the second and final rounds. Our senior team includes several players who, at the start of the season, intimated that in the event of stronger players being available they would be pleased to stand down in their favour. As Coe is recognised throughout the Dominion as one of our most brilliant forwards, I consider we would be acting unwisely if we niibsed this chance of availing ourseives of his services. "Touchlino'' is decidedly in error when ho takes last season's selectors to task over their alleged action in including two players in the team for Auckland who had only "played one game in Wanganui" previous to the selection of the team. I presume the two players referred to are Coe and Bassett — who are both members of our club. It may be news to "Touchline" to know that Coe played in the ti io.l match, also a.g\xin©t Wellington and Horowhenua reps, and in two Thursday Shield fixtures before the team f6r Auckland was finally selected. Bassett played in four Shield matches and as centre half in the rep. match against Horowhcnna before the Auckland team was selected, therefore "Tonehline's" statements are contrary to fact. His inconsistency is disclosed when I refer your readers to his criticism of the rep. teams for June 3rd, in which' he advocated the inclusion of W. Harris in one of the teams. This player has only played in one match this season. But perhaps "Touchline" can '/•-- lain f(ivay his inconsistency in this instance. I should like to h«?:ir his explariation. — I am, etc., J. SOLEE, Captain, United H.C.
