BY "DODGER." Pirates v Wa-nganui to-morrow. A tough struggle is anticipated between thew two teams. The hlacks scored a very narrow victory in the first round against the red and blacks, who will make a big effort to reverse the verdict to-morrow. The game will be doubly interesting from the fact that whichever team i 3 beaten will be put right out of the Cup. Owing to having lost the services, through injuries, of both of their old fiveeighths (R. Mitchell and A. Seeling), the blacks triedr Smith and McFetrish in the positions last Saturday. Both men shaped very well, their defensive play being remarkably sonnd, McFetrish's tacklinsr being espr."ially deadly. They did fairly well on the attack, too, but McFetrish was rather too slow jn getting rid of the ball. This was the only fault which could be found with an otherwise highly creditable display. At Auckland to-morrow the City and Ponsonbv teams will meet in a championship match, and the game is being looked [forward to with the keenest interest. It is 'anticipated that the contest will be one of the finest seen in Auckland for many a day. So far both teams have an unbeaten

record this season, each having piled ii]> big scores in their mutches. The City team relies principally on its forward-, who, with Charlie Seeling at their head, aro a splendid 'eat, but the barks are only fair. The Ponsonby backs, on the otlic> hand, are a particularly fine lot, then combination being wonderfully good, and there is not a weak man in the set. Their forwards, too, are strong, but perhayh hardly up to the standard of the City puck. A great struggle is anticipated, and the attendance is expected to be c.\cedingly large.
