The tug Togo at high water this morning, ■ succeeded in drawing the St. Kilda from her position on the South Spit. The barqiiebtine had lightered several punt loads of hardwood, which, being for works at the Heads, was not so expensive a matter as might have been the case under ether conditions.

The Huia loaded wool to-day, and sails to-night for Wellington. The Thistle towed the barquentine Alexa into port this morning, but owing to lack of wharfage accommodation she had to anchor in the stream. She comes from Clarenec River, via Greymouth, haying discharged a portion of her cargo at the latter port. The Rimu brought general cargo from Onehunga this morning, and returns north again to-night. The Eunice discharged the last of her cargo of Newcastle coal this afternoon. To-morrow the Arapawa and Stormbird are due from Wellington, the former via Picton. They return south at night. The Jane Douglas left Greymouth last night for this port, but what her cargo is has not yet transpired. The appearance of no less than five sailing vessels^ — the barquentines Alexa and St. Kilda, and scows Eunice, Jap, and Whangaroa — and three steamers in port today formed a pleasing spectacle, but the tonnage which is expected in port to-mor-row afternoon should form practically a record for the port. The.Regulus left Westport at mid-day to-day with coal for Castlecliff.

The Kaipara reached Auckland on Tuesday from London, and is due at Wellington about a week hence.

The Gertie is to relieve the Queen of the South in the Wellington-Foxton run during the latter 's annual overhaul. Mr W. Waddilove, well known in the intercolonial and coastal trade, is joining the Ripple as mate. The vessel is • still running in the Chatham Islands trade.

The Drayton Grange leaves Lyttelton on Saturday next for West of England ports. The crew of the Patea trader Aorere liave been paid off owing to a mishap to the vessel's boiler. She lays up for repairs.

The Nerehana, which arrived Home on the sth inst. from New Zealand, leaves for the Dominion again about the sth May.
