To-night, Messrs Meynell and Gunn's Dramatic Coy. open a four-nights' season at the Opera House, the booking for which has been highly satisfactory. The opening production will be "A Miner's Trust," an interesting drama depicting mining life in Australia, the setting being full of Australian colour and descriptive of things Aistraliani' The plot opens fir6t with the fortunes of Jack Howard and Alan TrenPfrove, two mining chums. The former being fatally wounded by an escaped convict, and full of anxiety for the givl he has left behind him in England, Trengrove, to soothe his last moments, promises to personate him, and marry the girl so as to secure her future happiness. Unfortunately, he falls in love with someone else, and just here the plot is complicated by another Trengrove (Arthur), seeking to unmask Alan, in order to obtain the hand of Alan's inamorata (Ida Mcdway), and also to obtain Howard's estate. He manages to unmask Alan, but to his own undoinsr, and finally everything ends happily. Miss Beatrice Holloway is said to give a charming and sympathetic impersonation of the blind girl, Alice Medway (Howard's fiancee). Included in the cast are such well-proved favourites as Mis* Lillian Meyers, Miss Alice Deoriovn, Miss Mabel Russell. Messrs Herbert J. Bentley, Gns Neville, J. B. Atholwood, and Harry Halley.
To-morrow nierht, "Two Little Sailor Boys," and on Thursday night, "The Little Breadwinner," will be staged, the season concluding on Friday with "The Stepmother." Messrs Meynell and Gunn'a attractions are so well known, and have gained so strong a hold on public favour, that a very successful season may be anticipated.
Meynell and Gunn's Dramatic Company arrived in town to-day to fulfil their fonrnsghts' engagement at the Opera House, commencing this evening.
