Appointment of a New President

Macedonia Demands Mainten-

ance of Constitution,

CONSTANTINOPLE, April 19.

Mustafi Effendi, a deputy at Alleppo, has been appointed President of the Chamber. Many telegrams from the provinces, including Anatolia, were read in the Chamber, protesting against the anti-Constitu-tional Cabinet.

The Macedonian army demands guarantees for the maintenance of the Constitution.

The Committee explain that Kiamils' fall is due to his subservience to his son.

Said Pasha, a palace favourite under the old regime, emphasises that outbreaks in Asia Minor will result in the overthrow of the Committee of Union's authority. The absence of the Hademkens artillerists, who have gone to Constantinople, enabled the Salonika battalion to slip through the fortifications and reach Spartakeni and Kutchuk, which are 18 miles from Constantinople.

Other reports stated that the Committee's advance guard of 3000 lias reached San Stefano.
