C.C. AND D. CO.'S LONDON REPORT.

LONDON, March 12. Incre have been no arrivals of live sheep since our last mail report, and the receipts to date remain at 3311 head, as against 17,0&4 head in the coi-responding period of last year. The number of cattle landed has been very moderate, the United States sending only 15,607 head and Canada 3000 head, a total nearly 6000 fewer than thatof the preceding four weeks. Compared with last year's figures to the same date importations show a shortage of 22,435 head. Supplies of chilled beef b,avc been somewhat heavier than in the previous four weeks, and comprise 51,527 cwts. from the United States. 111,273 cwts. from South America, and 14,616 cwts. from other countries. Aggregate importations from all sourres amount to 489",614 cwts., or some 17,000 cuts, short of last year's receipts in the same period, the considerable increases from South America and the Continent not quite making up for the large deficiency of 130,640 cwts. from the United Stat.es. Receipts of fresh mutton in the four weeks have been very small, and amount to only 2422 cwts. from Holland, 223 cwts. from the United States, and 1268 cwts. from other countries. Total imports are 27,835 cwts. as against 35,049 cwts., to the same date last year. < * Arrivals of fresh pork have been 37,653 cuts, from Holland, 525, <:wts. from the United States, and 3364 cwts. from other countries, in all some 60H0"cwts. less than were received in the previous four weeks. Importations now fall short of last year's figures for the same period by 43,376 cwts. In the fcwir weeks 22.316 cwts. of rabbits have come to hnnd, Australia sending 16,025 cwts.. Neu Zealand 193 cuts., and the Continent 6098 cwts. New Zealand Mutton. — The arrivals during the last four weeks amount to 129,297 carcases, not an abnormal quantity, but the total of 313j105 carcases received this year has prqved to be in excess of the reouirements of the market. The output is less .than half what it should be at tbis season and the continuous efforts to increase sales have been accompanied by a steady downward movement in prices. Canterbury brands do not show a very material change at prices -sanging from 3|d. to 3|d. per lb., the decline during the month being covered b- 1-8. per lb., but supplies of this meat are very moderate. North Islands constitute the bulk of the offerings and the current quotations of 2sd. to 3£d. per lb. show a drop of id. to id. per lb. Australian Mutton.— The importations amount to 374,985 carcases and show that an increase of 204,329 carcases has had to be dealt witjj. This being the lowest jmced mu tt O n on the market, it has sold, by comparison, more easily than other sorts, but values are very low. Light weight wethers of quite good quality make no more than 2|d. per lb., and other sorts range down to 2|d. per lb. Ewes can be bought at the latter figure. New Zealand Lambs.— While last season's stocks are still unexhausted, there have always been receiyed of the new season's shipments 303631 carcases. These lambs have met a bad market, and are selling slowly at low prices. The weather has been against tjje trade, the usual March demand is still to seek. The top quotation ' for ' Canterburys does not exceed ssd per lb, 1 and North Islands can be bought at 4?d. to sd. per lb., but even these prices ■do not stimulate the inquiry. Old sea- ! son's lambs are sold at any price, the average being about 3 id. to 3sd. per lb., and to clear lines even lower pnees 'arc taken. Australian Lambs.— Supplies have •been very heavy, amounting to 733,760 .carcases since the Ist January. As f^ual, these lambs have to mutton pri( cs, and the f\^^- majority 'of those offc'Tcd;-elu not cjdfemand more .ir'* quite moderate. 1 STOCK REPORT.
