During the past week no less than four ■ailing vessels have arrived at this port (three from Australian ports), while another (the St. Kilda, from Hobart) is at present off the Heads, awaiting an opportunity to come into port. A sixth, the bafquentine Alexa, from Clarence River, via Chteymoutti, left the latter port yesteiy day, and is due here early next week. This is a record that has not been beaten here for many years pa6t, if ever before. The presence of so many sailing vessels ber ing here at the one time is already prorfing a troublesome matter, owing to the limited wharf accommodation. What the position will be next week when two more wind-jammers are in port is easy to contemplate.
Owmg to the fog preventing the arrival of the Riniu, Siormbird, and Moa till last night, and their inability to discharge their cargoes till to-day, the steamers Arapawa and Huia, which arrived from Wellington this morning, had to take berths alongside the vessels in port, and await an opportunity to discharge. The three former sail to-night for Onehuaga, Wellington and Westport respectively, and the fluia and Arapawa, if forttutate,' will return to Wellington on the same tide.
The little ketch Oban left in ballast last night for Picton and Wellington. She was towed out to sea by one of the lighter*.
The Tyser steamer Indralema anchored in the roadstead yesterday afternoon. Given favourable loading conditions she will not £et away for Namer to continue loading before Wednesday. The scow Eunice, 16 days out from Newcastle, was towed into port last evening by the Thistle. She brought a full cargo of cpaL
A sailing vessel, probably the barquentine St. Kilda, from Hobart, was signalled off the Heads to-day.
