LAWN TENNIS.
EASTER TOURNAMENT. Tennis players throughout the Dominion will have plenty of sport during Easter, there being no less than eight tournaments in different centres, first and foremost to local players being, of necessity, the initial WangamiL tournament, entries for wbjch, players should note, close to-night. The tournament includes the usual number of open championship and handicap eventsfive of each, in which all players of affiliated clubs are eligible to compete. It is hoped, this being, no doubt, but the forerunner of an annual tournament, that local players, by liberally competing in the different events,, will do tbeir portion towards making the tournament the success that is expected. When entering players should be sure, to see. that tlieir entry forms are signed by. the secretary of their club. The other Easter tournaments are as follows : — - - , Otago open championships and handicap tournament at Dunedin. Canterbury open championships and handicap tournament at Cbristchurch. Waikato open championships and handicap tournament at Wellington. University championships at Wellington Club's courts. Hawke's Bay Club's handicap tournament at Napier. West Coast championships and handicap tournament at Greymouth. The New Zealand Times says that James Lindsay (Brougham Hill) competes al Wanganui, partnered by H. S. Powell (Newtown). H. V. How (also of Brougham Hill), who previously had thought of coming to the Wanganui . tournament, is now aspiring to the Waikato championship, to be decided at Hamilton. ; Upton and Grosf.man (Auckland provincial champion and runner-up respectively) are, however, competing at the Waikato. meeting, and should grive a pood account of,'jfchemselvef. F. 0. Austin (Petonc) who formerly intended trying his lucjc in Wanganu'f, is n,ot a after all, and probably^ competes at Wellington. P. B. Wright (^Turitai). if unablo to get a partner for the .Wellington -junior champion doubles, may come on to Wangamii to compete. Tho secretary has received several wires to the effect that entries 'have been posted from outside places a^S I ,' will arrive here late. It has therefore/teen decided to evtend tho date for receiving entries till Friday licit.
