HOKJSTJSA, Ocober 5. A little boy named Clarence St. Geor>^ had a narrow escape from drowning yesterday. He fell into the Hokitika River, and was caught on a snag on the bottom. A young man named Wiyia/n Wallace, learning of the accident, promptly jumped into the river, but had to dive three times before he could get the boy free and Tip to the surface. The lad was unconscious for some time after rescue, but ultimately recovered, and undoubtedly owes his life to Wallace's brace action.
