A Schooner Wrecked.
AUCKLAND, October 1
The Northern Coal fore-and-aft schooner Zior was wrecked on Takatu Point this morning, and from appearances is likely to be a total loss, her hull being full of water. The steamer Ngapuhi, bound from Whangarei to Auckland, this afternoon passed within a quarter of a mile of the wreck, but although a boat was lowered no communication was established' with the crew, who are thought to number five.
The Zior is wedged between two large rocks, and lies stern on to the shore. It isthought that the ship missed stays on her tack towards Kauri. The wind was northeast, with a heavy swell. Captain Diaz, the master, has been engaged in the local coastal trade for the last 39 years.
