WANGANUI COUNTY COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the above was held to-day. Present — Crs D. Mason (chair), R. Lilburn, J. R. Sommerville, E. E. Fletcher, W. Bamber, Wilson and Jieil«m. An apology for absence was received from Cr. McGregor. MINITES.— IIie minutes of the previous.jn«eting were read and confirmed.

> MITCHKLLS SLAUGHTERHOUSE.— A eoiuiEunieation was lead from the Agricultural Department stating that th<» Minister of Agriculture has approved of the plnas fo>> the proposed new Meat Export Slaughterhouse (with certain slight modifications) and has also approved of the issue, of the license when the buildings arc completed in accordance with the altered plans. BOAD AT JERUSALEM.— A letter from. Mr ; Batcliff re a road at Jerusalem was referred to the Mangawhero Road Board. ALTERATION OF BOUNDARIES.— A communication was read from the Rangitikei. County Council in reference to the petition for a rea-d just men t of boundaries between the Wanganui and Rangitikei Counties, alsa a petition from some setttetp ?e the Morgan property being taken over, by the Wanganui County Council. It was' 4ecided to a£Tee to the Rangitikei Council taking over the part desired by settlers* providing that the Council agree to the' Morgan, property being included in the Wanganui County.

PROPOSED NEW BRIDGE.— The following communication was read from Mr Cecil J. Wray, chairman of the Aramoho. Progressive Association — "Wanganui, fth September. — Re proposed new bridge across the Wanganui River. With reference- to this matter I have been requasted %o oommunicate to you the following resolution which was passed at a general meeting of the Aramoho Progressive Association, on the 3rd September— "That the Aramobo Progressive Association strongly objects to this district being taxed, for a bridge that will be of no J *nefit to Aramoho, and that the President communicate at once with the members of Parliament for the Wanganui, Rangibikei, and' Patea electorates, urging them to use their exertions with the Government to Trithhold any promises of a subsidy toward any bridge that will' not be serviceable to the district as a whole. And further that letters be sent to the Wailotarft and Wanganui County Councils asking - these bodies to similarly protest against* the proposed bridge between Waugftnui and Eastbrook." I trust that your Gouncil will take an active part in seeing that the interests of the whole district are considered, in the event of a itw bridge being erected." — After some discussion on the matter, it was resolved — That the Government be asked to instriiit its engineer to report on the site and cost of a bridge above the railway ' ridge as well as below. — It was further resolf ed that a committee be set up to confer •with a Waitotara County Council committee on the subject of the proposed. pite.
