"MORE FAMILIAR FACES."

We have pleasure in acknowledging receipt from the publishers — Messrs Hatherly and Johnson— of a further edition of the series of "Familiar Faces," with which they were previously so successful. The booklet contains cartoons of wellknown Wanganui citizens, the firm's artist — Mr H. Collins — having in every instance caught the facial expression capitually, and brought out the outsanding peculiarities of his subjects which lend themselves to caricature in a style which shows the cleverness of his pencil. He has, too, imparted some delicious touches of humour to the cartoons. Nothing, for instance, could be more amusing than the limning of a well-known lawyer of musical tastes, and it is laughable to see the look of do or die determination on the face of an equally well-known dentist, groping in a patient's mouth for a refractory molar. Other well-known citizens are also cleverly presented, the sketches being in every case, accompanied by some wittilvwritten description. The booklet is capitally turned out by Messrs Hatherly and Johnson, on whose staff it reflects much credit. A future edition is also promised, and judging by the production under notice, it, as we'll as the present one, should command a ready sale. • J
