NAPIER, September 30. Mr lan Smison, oue of the candWates for H.iwke's Bay, spoke to a la^ge audience at Hastings to-night. He said he. was a supporter of the present Governmeit on the land question nnd favoured both freehold tnd leasehold systems according to circumstances. There should be a 'Dominion; vote on the question of liquor or no liquor. He spoke favourably of the .ombined j.ystem of Conciliation and Arbitration for dealing with industrial disputes. A vose of thanks was' accorded.
