IMPORTED TIMBER.

WELLINGTON, September 29. A return presented to the House to-day shows that during the five years from August, 1903, to August, 1908, 9,852,193 superficial feet of Oregon pine was imported into New Zealand. The importations of the same timber also included 6,171,719 laths and shingles, 45Q0 palings, and 30 round logs, the last-named being imported during the past year. Of the total quantity of ordinary timber 6,914,734 feet came into the Dominion during the past year.
