OHAKUNE NOTES.

OHAKUNE, September 30. At the Town Board meeting last night there were present Commissioners Athy, Butler, Wilkie Quinn, and Loan.

Correspondence was read from A. McAuley for the position of roadman, from the Minister of Lands' re sundry matters, from Mr A. Gray re giving lectures on co-operative works, from Mr Remington and the Premier re Mangawhero bridge and Miro Street. Mr Bhtler moved, and Mr Wilkie seconded a motion that Mr. Gray's letter be acknowledged, and he be informed that a lecture was hardly advisable just now.

The chairman reported on what the deputation to the Council had done, everything being satisfactory. The chairman moved, and Mr Loan seconded that Messrs Quinn, Butler, and Uiiine be an executive committee to hurry along the agreement between the Council and the Board, also to see about the .£SOO loan being spent. Messrs PiUtlor. and Wilkie. and .the Board m«»et on Tuesday next, 'he business being to draw up by-laws.

Mr Wilkie stated that they had secured plans and a report for a high pressure water scheme for Ohakune, and the work could be done for .£3OOO. While the deputation was iv Wellington some uf them called at the Citizens' Life Assurance office and found they could secure a loan of .£4OOO for this work.

Th« chairman moved and Mr I^oane seconded that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded the deputation for the good work done.

Mr Wilkie moved and Mr Loane seconded tha a letter be conveyed to F. W, Furkert recording him a vote of thanks from the Board and community for the many services done to the town.

Mr Loane moved and Mr Butler seconded a motion that the Premier be written to stating that his wire re Dominion Day was complied with as far as possible. The meeting then terminated.
