NEW TELEPHONE MARVEL

Simultaneous Speaking and Writing

A German inventor, Hcrr Gustav Grzanna, is exhibiting a novel apparatus for the transmission ot electrical energy. Herr Grzanna can transmit han<lwming apd sketches, etc., over an ordinary telephone wire for very considerable distances, and within the period of a few seconds, thus, making a considerable advance over the old system of electric writing at a distance. He uses a low tension current, viz., 12 volts, in the transmitting and receiving boxi£, and his apparatus cdn be made an auxiliary of common telephonic communication, and, therefore, its commercial utilisation is ready to hand. Herr Grzanna's messages are passed through as f#st as they are written, and the transmitter uses the pencil naturally. Other systems require somewhat laborious handling of the transmitting mechanism, so that it takes about h*lf an hour to send and receive evdta a short .sentence. In fact, the Grzanna instrument is the autographic double of the voice in telephonic communications. One can actually speak and write or draw at the same time through the name wires, the telephone being connected with the apparatus through a condenser of two micrafarads.— Daily Mail.
