The -High Court, in a special case, awarded 'the Eastern Extension Compauy £633 asrainet the Commonwealth Government, the amount oeing the difference in minimum revenue and 'he amount received by the company for messages transmitted ovec the cable between Tasmania and Victoria. The Court veld that the Commoawealth was not empowered, under the agreement made with the company in 1902, to reduce the cost of cables, the Order-in-Council to that effect being imperative, and it was bound to pay the rales fixed until they were lawfully reduced, and also bound to pay the company in respect to shipping intelligjuce transmitted, until the agreement was lawfully terminated.
