NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION.

The Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union met to-night, when G. V. Bogle asked for permission for a New Zealand University team to travel to Sydney to meet the Sydney University in July; also, for permission to pay the travelling expenses of -the members. The application was granted, the chairman re-" marking that no permission was necessary in regard to the payment of travelling expenses.

It was decided to instruct the Unions who are to combine against the British team to arrange for the selection of the team and other matters. The selection will be left to the Unions, but in the event of any trouble the New Zealand body will step in. It was decided to get a report from the Wanganui Rugby Union in regard to a request from the Waverley Club to transfer to the Taranaki Union.

A sub-committee was'appointed to report on what would be involved in substituting two test matches in place of the games between the Britishers and the North and South Island teams.

It was decided to play the North V. South Island match in Wellington on June 20 — a week prior to the date fixed for the test match against Britain. The New Zealand team will be selected after the inter-Island match.

Members of the Kaierau Football Club are reminded that a practice game will be played against Wanganui on Saturday, on the Recreation Ground. Seniors, juniors, and thirds are earnestly requested to attend, and a game is assured for all. The Manawatu Bugby Union met last

evening, when the following recommendations were made for the consideration of the New Zealand Rugby Union at its annual meeting, to be held next month: — "(1) That at least 50 per cent, of the profits of every match played under the auspices of the New Zealand Union be handed over to the local Union on whose ground the match is played ; {2) that it is desirable that measures should be taken to empower line umpires to assisl the referee in detecting instances of rough play."
