The weather this morning is nice and cool for the opening day of the Woodville Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting, and a big success is anticipated as the acceptances are good and a large number of visitors are already in town. Up to the present time only three bookieß have paid for the privilege of betting. Results: — Maiden.— Contour 1, Kelso 2, First Mate 3. Also started — San Jose, Hippolytus, Tcotane, San Lass (?). Hippolytus pulled up after going three furlongs. Won easily by half a length. Time, 1.15 1-5. Hurdles. — Playmate 1, Concussion 2, Mount Cook 3. Scratched — Land o' Nod and Cloudy Morn. Splendid race. Won by two lengths. Time, 3.22. Whariti Hack. — Merrie Zealand 1. Seaton Dale 2. Pearlie 3. Scratched — Waipunehu, Mikutihi, and Truganini. Won eomfoitably by a neck. Time, 1.30.
DUNEDIN CUP MEEETING.
DUNEDIN, February 19. The weather is fine for the opening day of the Cup meeting, and the going is excellent. Results: —
Autumn Hurdle Handicap.— Tirole 1, Stormont 2, Storm 3. Scratched — Pacific. Good race, won by half a length. Time, 3min 23 3-ssec.
Gladbrook Handicap. — Oiyoi 1, Rifle Range 2, Ilarita 3. Scratched — Cuiriosettia, Pretty Nell. Time, lmin 16 4-ssec. Champagne Stakes. — Husbandman 1, Mv Lawyer 2, Bcneform 3. Scratched — Fleetfoot, Sir Artegal, Rainmaker. Won in a common canter. Time, 1.188.
