The first jun needs little description, more than, that it was about 2* miles long, and over some 35 fences, mostW wire and goree. The jumping was good and the far! very fast, and finished right up at 1 the front door of the Rapanui homestead. Sms were very few, and it speaks well for the condition of the horses, as there was no great distance between the leaders and the last man. Girths were then loosened and the horses given a breather before starting off on the second run. This time the drag was laid in a rough circle, which started on the opposite side of the road to Rapanui, over a few fences. Then the road double and across a ploughed field, and over a box-thorn hedge in front of the house; then away to the left over three or four more gorse hedges, and round aeain up to the cattle yards, over several more gorse, and ditch and bank fences. This second run was about two miles long, over about fifteen fences. The number of followers was fewer, as the first run had been too much for several. By this time horses and riders had had about enough, but before going the field were entertained to afternoon tea by Mr and Mrs J. Blair.
