SHIELD MATCH

ARAMOHO

The first match of the -ea^on for the Wanganui Draughts Association's Shield was played last evening in the T. Y.M.I. Roohib. Only three teams are participating in this year's contest, viz., Wanganui. T. Y.M.1., and Aramoho, the Cosmopolitan Club having failed to get a team together. The above match was very int resting, some clo>>e games being played. Aramoho this year are considerably strengthened by the inclusion of W T . H. Smith and S. Phillips, and last evening Loth teams wore evenly matched. Ara n.oho were without the services of Ewing aad Richardson, while sewial of the leading T. Y.M.I, playeis were absent. As the seres were haudtd in first one team was leading by on«> or two games, and then thi" other had a like lead, and it wae not until 11.30 that the final board was completed, and left T.Y.M.I. winners by four Kasiies.
