The usual monthly meeting ot the above was held to-day. Prer«nt — Crs D. Mason (chairman). J. R. Sommervillc, E. E. Fletcher, C. J. Wray, W. Bamber. Caines. R. Neilson. An apology for absence was received from Cr Wilson. MINUTES.— The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. TAYLORVILLE FOOTPATH.— The subcommittee appointed to report on the best means of improving the Taylorville footpath asked permission to hold ovg; their report . , **- HEAO BRIDGE.— The Clerk reported that the wire cable for the lleao Bridge hod arrived, apd the chairman mentioned that ho had wiittcn the contractor acquainting him. of the fact, and asking when he would be able to make a start with the work. OFFICE FURNITURE.— It wafc resolved that Mr E. Barns be offered £5 lOe lor some office furniture. ' ABERFELDIE BRIDGE.— The Mangawhero Road Board wrote stating that they •would undertake the maintenance of tin approaches to the Aberfeldie Bridge. CULVERT.— Mr A. A. Gower wrote drawing attention to the fact that a culvert in front of his place at Taylorville was broken. — Crs Neilaon and Bamber were empowered to have the necessary repairs effected, and also to take steps to sto|j the clay from beiug thrown on to the load. TAYLORVILLE BANK PROTECTION. — A letter was read from Mr Leslie Reynolds, stating that he was awaiting instructions re reporting" on the protection of the Taylorville Bank.— Cr Sominervillc moved that Mr Reynolds be given instructions to prepare a report on the best nay of protecting the bank.— Cr Wray seconded. — Carried. MODEL BY-LAWS.— A communication fiom the Southland County Council re the proposed model by-Jaws. — It was resolved that the communication lie upon the table 'or further consideration. VALJ ATION CHARGES.— A communication was read from the Southland County Council re tho present system of valuing properties throughout the colony ( >y the Valuation Department being unteasonablv costly, and a-kinw co-operation »ud assistance in bringing about 'a much lesired change— Letter acknowledged and 'he Southland County Council to-be in'ormed that this Council will support any proposals brought forward with a view of reducing the charges. RATES.— It was decided that all rotes unpaid within seven days will bo put in thu handb ol tho vjlm jt-ir foi recovery.
