At the Licensing Committee meeting tkis morning the Committee asked SubInspector Dwyer tor au expression ot opinion, from the police point of view, of the effect of the refusal of conditional licenses to the Exhibition, and also ol the changing ot the closing hour from 11 p.m. to 10 a.m. The officer said that from hia observation the refusal to grant licensee for the Exhibition was a very good thing. Tlie 10 o'clock closing also had done no harm. As far as he could see it had minimised drunkenness iv the street* and sent people earlier to their homes, ' and had altogether been a good thing for tho city. MARTON, June 7. The Manawatu Licensing Committee yesterday postponed the renewal ot all licenses for three months to allow the applicants to comply with the requisitions of tho Public Health Department and the police.
