WANGANUI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE, AND TALLOW SALES.

At the wool sale held here to-day, bidding was good all round, but very spirited for good half-bred. Bright clean crossbred pieces were also keenly competed for. Top price was obtained, viz., 14£ d, for half-bred. The general range of prices was as follows: Fine ua'fbred 13d to 14£ d, medium halfbred llfd to 12d, fine crossbred 12d to 13|d, medium crossbred 10^d to 11 Jd, three-quarter bred llsd to 12d, Lincoln "and coarser wools 9jj« to 10£ d, merino (very little offering) lOd to lOjd, half-bred pieces 9£d to lOd, three-quarter pieces 8d to B£d, bellies BJd to 9d, loeSs 5d to 6d.

IThe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Con- iiiny. Limited, report as follows: — At Palmerston North on Thursday we yarded 500 head of cattle and 300 sheep. There was a very small attendance of buyers and bidding was slack. Sheep sold at fair values under the hammer, and the bulk of the cattle -were afterwards quitted. We quote:—Sheep: Inferior ewes and lambs 12s 4d, forward ewes 12s Bd, cull two-tooths 11s Id. Cattle: Weaners 16s to 6d, yearling heifers 20s, yearling steers 32 to £2 Is, 18-month steers £2 7s 6d, 2J-yea' t steers •£4, bulk £1 to £4, t store cows 30s to £2.

Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Limited, held their weekly sale at Palnferston on Thursday, 3rd January, when a full yarding of sheep, including » line of 1000 two-tooth wethers, and a fair yarding of cattle came forward. Bidding was slack, no doubt owing to the sale being held too soon after the holidays. We quote: Fat ewes 13s 7d, two-tooth wethers 14s 7d to 15s, woolly lambs 9s 6d, aged ewes and lambs 20s. -,

The January sale will be held on Thursday, the 10th inst., and produce should be in Wanganui not later than the 7th, Monday. The Loan and Mercantile are now receiving entries.
