The Wellington Motor Fatality.

The Enquiry.

WELLINGTON, December 20. The inquiry into the death of Mrs Kensington, who was killed on Monday by being run down by the Fire Brigade motor engine, was continued to-day. The greater part of the evidence was with regard to the pace at which the car travelled along Lambton Quay and turned into Bowen Street on the day of the accident. The driver, Spry, took the car over the ground, and afterwards said he had gone at about the same rate as on Monday. This was denied by some of the witnesses, who said the pace on Monday had been greater. Some of them contended that the ear travelled at between 15 and 20 miles an hour, and had turned the corner at an unsafe speed. It seemed to be established that Mrs Kensington and her daughters did not see the motor until it was practically on top of them. The inquiry was adjourned until next day, the Coroner to in the meantime take the evidence of Miss Louisa Kensineton, who had, a leg fractured in the accident.
