Baored Heart Oonvent

Annual Breaking Up Entertainment. The Opera House was packed to the doors last evening, when the annual break* ing-up entertainment in connection with the Sacred Heart Convent Select School was held. That the large audience thoroughly enjoyed themselves was amply demonstrated by the hearty and well* merited applause which was bestowed upon the various performers, and the teachers and their pupils may well feel proud of the great success achieved. The choruses, piano and vocal solos, violin selection, and drills, which comprised the first part of the " entertainment were all much appreciated, the audience according the performers most enthusiastic applause. Special mention may be made of the drill "Queen Mab and the Fairies," by the infants, which was extremely pretty. A play entitled "Lady Emehne Hargrave, or the Witch of Bramble Hollow" was staged in the second half, *nd it must be Mia that the performance was a highly creditable one. The various characters were impersonated in the most praiseworthy manner, and the audience were delighted with the production. The scenery was excellent, and those responsible for the capital arrangements are to be congratulated. A word of praise is due to the stage hands for the manner in which they carried out their duties. A feature of the entertainment was the fine music supplied by the orchestra, under the charge of Mr J. L. Beck, some fine selections being very nicely played. At the conclusion of the entertainment the Very Rev. Dean Groean, on behalf of the Sisters, thanked those present for their patronage, and also the performers for the pleasant evening they had provided.
