CATHOLIC SOCIAL. The social held in the Drill Hall last evening in aid of the Catholic Church at Aram oho was lagely attended and proved a thorough success, the energetic committee having" spared no pains in their efforts to carry it out to a successful conclusion. Very effective decorations were put up by the Rev. Father Manor*"- and' Messrs Provost and M. Quirk, the stage being arranged as a drawing-room and card tables provided for non-dancers. The supper was jrovided by the ladies of the congregation, and was under the charge of Mrs Wood, who with her assistants, was kept very busy attending to the wante of those present. The different turns were much apreciated, encores being the order all through the diversified programme. Misses Leete and Kilburn, Baby Watson and Mr Fred Bluett were all very successful in their items, while Mr Seymour and Miss Dupre, in their double turn, received 1 clamourous applause. Little Cliff, one of j the cleverest juvenile comedians ever seen here, "caught on" at once, his, dancing being especially good, and he was recalled time after time. The sensation of the j evening was Brinn, the strong man, whose balancing feats were wonderful, and whose strength and firmness of muscle impressed everybody. He balanced a 1741 b projectile upon the end of a pole, upheld by his j chin, and knocking away the support. 1 caught the solid shot on his back, and held it there as easily as if it were no heavier than thistledown. His concluding t act was the balancing of a machine gun. ! carriage and all, weighing 4841b5. on his j chin, and firm? it while in that position, a | feat he made scarcely more of than if it I had been an ordinary rifle. Altogether I the performance was a very succesful j one.
