MATAONGAONGA ROAD BOARD.

m The usual monthly meeting of the above was held last evening. Present — Messre R. Neilson (chairman), Anderson, and J. Jones. An apology for absence was re1 ceived from Mr Mackay. MINUTES.— Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. I ACCOUNTS. — Accounts amounting to .£B4 108 9d were passed for payment. INSURANCE.— It was resolved to con- ! tinue the insurance with the New Zealand Company. LOAN. — The clerk was instructed to give the Treasury the particulars desired re loan. ROAD. — It was resolved that the Board would form the road required by Messrs Beaven Bros, through the Duncan Estate. ARTESIAN WATER.— A number of applications for artesian water were received and dealt with. DECLINED. — A letter was received from Mr J. L. Stevenson, on behalf of the Georgetti trustees, asking tho Board to take over a road through the Georgetti estate. It was resolved to reply that the Board declined to take the road in its present condition. BROKEN BRIDGE.— It was resolved that the Board's solicitor be instructed to lay an information against the owner of the traction engine which broke the bridge on No. 3 Line for breaking the traffic by-law, and for injury to the road, as recommended by. the solicitor. TENDERS.— Tenders for road metalling were received, but were all considered too high, and it was decided to invite fresh tenders. FOREMAN.— A large number, of applications were received for the position of foreman, and were referred to a committee of the whole Board, to report on Wednesday week. THE CLERK.— It was resolved to increase the clerk's salary by .£lO a year. CROSSING.— The District Railway Engineer wrote agreeing to the Board's request to remove the bank on the side of the railway line at the No, 3 Line crossing.
