WANGANUI AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.

The H9iial weekly meeting of members of the above was held yesterday. Present — Messre J. H. Nixon (chair), J. H. Burnet, J. Higgie, J. T. Sinclair, G. Smith, G. Spriggens, D. Grant, J. Wilson, T. 11. James, B. Russell, W. K. MeLfcan, J. C. < H. Burnett, A. Burnett, A. Lees, D. Ross, Rosa (Brunswick), J f 13. Murray. Apologies lor absence were received from Messrs J. G. Swan, T. A. Bamber, and D. McGregor. MINUTES.— The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. BADGES.— It was decided, that the stewards of the various classe^ and committee should w-ear distinguishing badges. DONATION.— Mr C. J. McCarthy (secretary of the Licensed Victuallers' Association) wiote intimating that his Association would donate £10 towards the cost ot the improvements effected by the Agiicultural Association. — It was resolved that licensed Victuallers be thanked for" their donation. JUDGES.— It was mentioned that all the judges for horses, cattle, and sheep hacl been appointed. INVITATION.— Letter* were received from the lions. W.-Hall Jones (Minister for Public- Workri), Geo Fowlds (Minister for Education), J. R. ililler (Minister lor Labour), and Colonel Pilt (AttorneyGeneial) acknowledging the receipt of invitations to attend the Show, and intimating that they would attond it their duties pcimittcd them doing so. The Minister for Lands (Mr R. McNab) wrote stating that though lie had niado other arrangements ho would endeavour to accept the invitation. DOG Slir.D.— A leIUM- was read from Mr F. Moffatt, secretary of the Wansmuu Racecourse Trustees that the Hoard would have no objection to the A«doeialion erecting a lean-to lor dogs at the rear of the produce sheds. SIDING.— It was decided that the master of erecting a aiding opposite the Sash and Dour Factory for the unloading of stock should be h«ft with the sub-commit-tee to deal with. EXPERIMENT.— The Secretary of the Agricultural Department wrote stating that he had no objection to Mr Blundell supervising the manuring- experiments about to be conducted by the Association. IMPLEMENTS.— A letter was read intimating that the Masaey-Harris Company intended making an imposing display. Mr Smith stated that the representative of Reid aud Grey'a had. assured him that his firm intended making a very big display. RESIGNATION.— A letter was read from Mr T. D. Cummins intimating that owing to his official duties preventing his [ lttcndance at the committee meetings he ■cl 1 i< I's duty to resign from the committoo.- -tt.— ii\od to reply that whilst appicciatiu'/ \ir Cummins' motives, the committee It'li they could not accept his reI signation, he having been, and still being, a valuable member. NEW MEMBERS.— The following new members were elected : Messrs James Crane, E. Openshaw, C. E. Mackay, D. Stiachan, W. Bell, Rev. Father Lccroix, 11. J. Day, A. Strachan, W. P. Gray, G. Vitken, W. Hatcher, G. Mcc, F. W. Ross, G. T. Lyons, A. Turner, J. Mason, and Miss Moyra Bond (15 months old). The following were elected life members: Messrs E. E. Fletcher, 11. Wilson, Frank Spencer, William Parsons, O. Lewie, L. B". Taylor, F. M. Cranstone, J. H. Burnett,. John Bronnan, T. 11. James, Donald Ross, G. V. Pearce, J. A. Young, D. McFarlanc. KILLING.— Mr A. Burnett moved that the sheep and bullock killing in connection with the wcight-gU€63ing competitions be done on the day after the Show at the Freezing Coy.'s works in the presence o^ .two members of the committee. — Carried. GRASS.— It was resolved that, Mr -Wilson make inquiries as to the supply of grass for stock. STOCK SALE.— It was decided that any «tock BaU*a in connection with the Show b» held on the morning of the second day NOTICE OF MOTION.— Mr T. H. James gave notice to move at noxt meeting "That the main entrance gateway be- enclosed with an Bft screen having several 2ft x 3ft wide openings, the enclosing screen to be lemoved at 4 p.m. on the second day ; also, that horses and vehicles be only admitted by the training r-addock gate on both days." r DINNER. — Mr Sinclair moved and Mr Spriggens seconded that dinner be not held this year.— Mr C. 11. Burnett moved as an amendment that the question of the entertainment of the judges should be held over until next meeting. — Seconded by Mr Lees and carried.
