King Edward's Condolence.

HONGKONG, September 20. Lord Elgin telegraphed to Sir Matthew Nathan, Governor of Hongkong, King Edward's deep regret at the calamity. The King was grieved to hear of the immense loss of life among the Chinese, expressed sympathy with the immediate sufferers and the whole of the Hongkong community. The Government also sent condolences. There are indications that several thousand of Chines© water dwellers perished.
