LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.

MASTERTON, September 20. The Government valuers visited Te Rangitumau yesterday for the purpose of valuing Stuckey's estate of 3608 acres, with a view to acquisition for closer settlement. Between the visit of the Land Purchase Board and the Government valuers a private sale of the property was effected. The Land Purchase Board has now notified Mr Stuckey of the intention of the Government to purchase the estate. Mr James Stuckey is a well known breeder of Hereford and Southdown stock, and is leaving the Wairarapa with the intention of settling permanently in England.
