FOOTBALL.
NORTH v. SOUTH. (Pot United Press Association). WELLINGTON, September 19. Great interest is being taken in the North v. South Island match, to be pHyed at the Athletic Park on Saturday. Since the good performance put up by tho Otago team against Wellington, the possibilities in favour of the South Island have increased. Tho North Island team will be without the services of Koberta on account of an injury received whilst playing against Hawke-'s Bay, and. his place' will bo taken by H. Kiernau, of Auckland. Glasgow, another of the late New Zealand combination, is also unable to assist the North, and his place will be taken by T. Cress, of Wellington. It is more than likely that Wallace will also be unable to play, in which' eas© J. O'Leary, of Wairarapa, should have a chance of inclusion, as Mitchinson is incapacitated.
The following members of the Wanganui Guards have been selected to play in a friendly game of football against the Wanganui Rifles on the Recreation Ground, commencing at 1.30 p.m. sharp on Saturday next. Maroon jerseys are required. Williams, Vallance, Blythe, Joyce, Crompton, Barnes, Brocket, O'Brien, Blackie, Taylor, Sweeney, Wainwright, Kench (3), Du6tin (3) and Cade. As the gate proceeds are in aid of the Hospital fund it* is hoped a large number of friends will be present. The committee of Wanganui Football Club wish to remind all members of the reunion to be held at Dustin's Rooms on Saturday evening, the 22nd, at 8 o'clock.
