The Mayor, Mr. C. E. Mackay, and Mr. E. N. Liffiton, J.'a.P., presided at Police Court this morning. A drunk was convicted and discharged, and ordered to pay cab hire of 2s. A young man named Joseph Sweeney was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, for stealing a tent worth 10s at Upokongaro on the 17th, the property of I'lios. Holder. For stealing the following articles, four blankets (valued at 20s), one ring (10a), one looking-gla?a (la), one pair spectacles (2s), and certain articles of wearing apparel (10s), the property of Samuel Atkinson of Upokongaro, the same accused was" also convicted, and ordered to come up for sentence when c-iir'ed upon, the articles having been recovered.
