The report of the Railway Commissioners shows fhe total revenue as .£3,787,000, which is the largest ever earned, being equivalent to 4.51 per cent, of the railway debt of the State. ' The Commissioners strongly condemned the proposal that the surplus revenue should be devoted first to liquidating liabilities chargeable to revenue, second to providing funds for additions and improvements to existing lines and additional rolling stock, and third to building up the revenue reserve fund to cope with unfavourable seasons and. to meet interest charges without calling on the consolidated fevenue for the purpose.
