RANGITIKEI R.C. SPRING MEETING.

The spring meeting .of the Rangitikei Racing Club opens to-morrow, and will be brought to a conclusion on Thursday. The weather promises to be perfect, and as the club have been favoured with good acceptances, the racing should be most interesting and enjoyable. That there will be a large attendance at this popular gathering may safely be anticipated. Quite a large number of Wanganui sports intend patronising the meeting, the racing at which should throw considerable light on the Wanganui J.C. meeting next week. The following may run prominently in their respective engagements: — Flying. — Gleam and Splendid Idea. Willowbank Hack Steeplechase— Peruvian and Westward. Pukehoe Hack Hurdles.— Matariki and Hokio. Maiden.— Lady Beresford and Envoy. Rangitikei Steeplechase.— Hutana and Sammy. Spring Handicap. — Shrapnel. Rangitoto Hack Race. — Rosegrove and Albuera.

Mr H. A. Goodall, the popular secretary of the Rangitikei Club, informes me that the arrangements for the meeting: «ue ewll forward, and everything points to the gathering being the most successful yet held by the club. The course is in splendid order, and with a continuance of the present beautiful weather the racing ehould be of the moat interesting character.. There is a really good class of horses engaged, e» that the sport to be provided will be of the best. A record attendance is anticipated. Owners are reminded that acceptances for the Spring Handicap, 2 socs. Wanganui Guineas 4 soys, Okehu Hurdles 1 soy, and Flying Handicap 2 soys, to be de. cided at the Spring Meeting of the Wan* ganui Jockey Club, close ' at 9 p.m. on Friday nevt, the 21st inst.
