DIGESTIBLE SUPPERS.

Fresh fish provides the most nourishing of suppers, and R. Yarrow is nightly cooking the freshest of fish to suit the tastes of his numerous customers.

The following was the full programme played at the Hospital yesterday afternoon by the Garrison Band: — March, "Hiban's a'ldee"; selection, "Nabucco' (Verdi); march, "Washington Greys"; selection, "Lost Chord"; selection, "Un Ballo in Maschera" (Vei)di); and march, "Palmer House" (Pette). The two special features of the programme were "Nabucco," in which the syncopated movement was brought out with considerable expression, and 'VThe Lost Chord." The cornet solo by Mr George Buckley was rendered with marked expression, whilst Mr J. Trussell (soprano) played the intermediate accompaniment exceedingly well. The following letter received this morning by the conductor (Mr J. Crichton) shows how the patients at the Hospital appreciated the treat afforded them yesterday: —"The Conductor and Bandsmen of the Wanganui Garrison Band. Gentlemen, — We, the undersigned patients of the above hospital, feel constrained to thank you for the inspiring music rendered to us yesterday, as well as upon previous occasions. Only those who have passed weeks of weariness and waiting on bed 3of sickness can realise how full our appreciation is, and we hope that the argument may somehow appeal to Aquarius, and that in future fine dry weather may visit the performances of our band, of which we are justly proud." (Then follow the signatures of 41 patients.)
