WANGANUI RUGBY UNION.

A special meeting of the Management Committee was held on Saturday evening, there being presents: — Messrs. G. Spriggens (chair), A. Gray, A. W. Mountfort, H. Tilley. G. Brown, G. R. Simpson, L. Bassett, T. Bell, J. Wetney, and W. Hall (secretary).

MARTON F.C. APPEAL.— The evidence taken on the appeal by the Marten Football Club against the recent decision of the Rangitikei Sub-Union in a dispute between the Marten and Hunterville Clubs was considered. The Sub-Union awaited the game to Hunterville, which team had kicked off and secured a try, the Marten Club refusing to take the field. The dispute was over a referee, the question being whether the referee had been mutually agreed upon. After discussion, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Brown, " That after consideration of the evidence submitted to this Union on this appeal, the Wanganui Rugby Union finds that the Rangitikei Sub-Union was •'• in error in awarding the match to the Hunterville Club, and therefore upholds the Marten Club's appeal, as under Law 3 of the game of Rugby football this Union holds that a referee was not' mutually agreed upon by the clubs interested.
