Storm Damage at Invercargi!!

(Per United Tress Association). INVKRCARGILL. July 5. A violent gale raged this morning, doing the greatest damage to telegraph and telephone wires for thirty years. Poles are down in all directions. Chimneys, fences, and windows suffered, and a few structures were blown down. The gale is now abating.

An old age pension was renewed by Mr Stanford, S.M., this morning.

At the Police Court this morning, John Garson Phillips, on remahd from Monday last, was charged with obtaining a cheque for £2 from Kobert Yarrow, by false pretences. After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate, Mr R. L. Stanford, said that whatever accused"s couduct morally, it did not in his (the Magistrate's) opinion amount to false pretences. Accused was thereupon discharged. A fuller report of the case is crowded out of this issue.

Rose growers will be pleased to learn that Messrs Jas.
