THE RAILWAY SERVICES.
(Per United, Press Association). PALMEBSTON. February 13. Representatives of tho District Chambers of Commerce hold a conference this morning on the subject of a lack of railway facilities on the West Coasts. Numerous complaints wore made by various speakers as to tho lack of communication under the present conditions. The opinion was expressed and approved by all present that no effective and permanent reform can 1h» instituted unless tho Government purchase the Manawatu railway. It was urged if that were done passengers could reach Wellington from Napier quicker by way of Palmerston than via Wairarapa, besides which immense expense of haulage over the Riinutnku would be avoided.
