LARGE SHIPMENT OF FISH SPAWN

AUCKLAND, February 13.

Mr Ayson, Chief Inspector of Fisheries, returned from America by the Sierra with a large shipment of fish spawn for Now Zealand. including 500,000 Chinook salmon eggs, 2,000,000 white fish eggs, 1,000,000 herring eggs from Lake Erie, 10,000 land-locked salmon eggs from Green Lake (British Columbia), and 50,000 lake trout from Northville (Michigan). These will cost about £800. Owing to defective packing, none of the lake herring eggs, survived the voyage.
