EMPIRE v. WAVERLEY-PATEA.
The country team on Saturday added another to their long list of wine; indeed, they make it their boast- that they hay© never yet been beaten. With four of the famous Caves, Cargill, Campbell, Broadmore, and Brady, it would take something out of the ordinary to beat them. Empire batted first, and niade a sorry show, Saunders being the only man who could mako anything of Cargill and L. P. Cave. Both of the bowlers were on the spot, and came out with excellent averages. When A. N, and K. H. Cave succumbed cheaply, an interesting finish seemed probable, but L. P. Cave (32), Brady (12), Walters (33), and Cargill (17) soon put the issue beyond doubt. Saunders, 6 for 43, bowled th© most successfully, while Shacklock ,was treated with respect right from the jump* The following are th© scores: —
