A Word to the Liberals

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, — As the laudible endeavours of the Premier and other gentlemen who have the good of our cause at heart have not been successful in reducing the number of Liberal candidates standing for election for the Wanganui seat, it now becomes the duty jf all true Liberals to give their united support to the strongest candidate in the field. It is for the electors to judge who he is. The man who commands the respect .uid attention of his hearers at his public meetings should be the man selected by Jhe party of progress and reform. We should then put aside all minor differences of opinion and fight for our cause under his banner as one- united body, who are delermined to win. Our opponents are delighted at the split in the Liberal ranks. They know full well they have no chanc* vhatever of returning an Opposition caulidate for Wanganui under ordinary circumstances. Their only hope is to see the large Liberal vote split up and equally divided among the four candidates so as t( •nable them to land one of the Opposition candidates the winner. Liberals, be on four guard; do not throw away yoiu strength and sacrifice your interests and he interests of the district for the nexi i.ree years. Be united, honest and hoarty. in your endeavours to return to power the

party, who will oontrfu> t° make and amend our laws in favour of the g* iority of the people. I am, etc 7 ., _ A LIBERAL WORKING MAN,
