N.Z.L. AND M. A. COY'S REPORT.
We have received the following from the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company : — • WELLINGTON, November 30. I
In connection with the branding of wool, our London office has brought under our notice the following points, and you may consider it to your advantage to adopt their suggestions, at any rate we commend it to your notice as worthy of attention.
"Branding of Colonial Wools. — As the American Customs are now, under a recent decision, im]-.osing*m extra one per cent, for lb. duty on ollfonial wool when branded 'Lincoln,' or 'Leicester,' it would be to the advantage of growers to discontinue branding their balea with these defierirtions, and either substituting c cr< ssbred' or omitting' the quality altogether, giving descriptions in specifications only. We would also point out that all wools entering the United States must have tho country or origin branded on the bales, and it has been suggested to us that if this could be done before shipment it would bo a great convenience- to many English buyers and involve little or no extra, cost to tho growers."
The dates of the local wool sales are ns follows:— Bth December, 1005; 11th of January, 1906; 15th February, 1906. Tlic wool must be in store four days prior to date of sale.
